innlit í Ástralíu /// The Brisbane home of Rose Jensen-Holm and Dan James.

Við kíkjum í heimsókn til ástralíu þar sem parið er mikið listafólk og heimilið ber þess glöggt merki.

Entrance hallway. Vintage Turkish rug, tapestry weaving by Yesvincent, and vintage ladder the couple found on side of road.

Inngangurinn: Þar setur gömul Tyrknesk motta, vefnaður frá Yesvincent og stigi sem þau fundu við vegakannt, svip sinn á rýmið sem tekur á móti okkur.

Dan’s study and music room. Vintage Turkish rug, old repurposed wooden farmhouse table as desk, 1940’s tambourine on wall, and Mid Century red metal desk lamp.

Vinnustofa og tónlistarherbergi Dans: Gömul Tyrknesk motta á gólfinu, Gamalt endurnýtt borðstofuborð sem skrifborð, 1940´s tamborín á vegnum og midcentury rauður boðrlampi.

Antík gína, fallegur vefnaður og planta í terracotta skál mynda hér fallega uppstillingu.



Rose’s studio looking through to the master bedroom. Retro bamboo footstool used as seat, assortment of vintage Turkish rugs, vintage 1960’s whirlwind metal chair in background (customised by me using red spray paint). 


 loungeroom. Midcentury Don Rex teak lounge chair and couch, Rose’s favourite  Vinnie’s op shop oil painting, and 1960’s yellow metal mod floor lamp.

Í stofunni: Midcentury Don Rex tekk stóll og sófi, uppáhalds olíumálverk Rose o 1960´s gulur gólflampi. 



I stofunni eru sérsmíðaðar hillur eftri James Talty með fallegu safni af  áströlskum, Itölskum, vestur þýskum og Dönskum leirvösum

 In the Loungeroom are these custom built shelves by James Talty with various Australian, Italian, West German and Danish Pottery vases.


Kitchen. Vintage ceramic bowls/platters on bench by Rose’s mum Paula, antique wooden cheeseboard found at Woolloongabba Antique Centre, and various hand carved wooden spoons bought in Italy. 
Main bedroom. Vintage Moroccan wedding blanket on bed, vintage kilim cushions, old vintage refurbished bedside table, and Danish 1960’s ceramic bedside lamp (customised wool shade by Rose).

Textíll og handverk setur svip sinn á svefnherbergið eins og allt heimilið, Gamalt Marocco brúðarteppi er á rúminu, gamlir kilim púðar, gamalt endurnýtt náttborð og 60´s keramik lampi


Back deck. Antique wooden peg leg bench from Foothill Station, trestle table made from repurposed old door, and vintage old wooden chairs from Retro Metro, the vintage store where Rose works.

  1. It is always a breeze working with white-splashed walls. It works like a blank canvas that needs splashes of colours from the furniture pieces and accessories that you decorate the area with. Whether it is a piece of shelf or a storage cabinet, it will complement the bare wall space.
